Sesame Seeds:
Sesame seeds are seeds gotten from a tropical plant called Sesanum Indicum and it is well known for the amount of oil it yields. The Sesanum Indicum is typically about 60 to 120cm tall and the fruits inherent in this plant have a shape of a capsule and when ripe, the fruit explodes to let out a high number of small seeds. These seeds are known as sesame seeds and contain about 44-60% of oil (sesame oil). There are three types of sesame seeds which are white, black and brown or mixed seeds; However, Nigeria produces only the white and brown/golden seeds. The white seeds are mainly food-grade while the brown/golden ones are mainly oil-grade.
