In 1944, the company which gave rise to Norberto Odebrecht SA began to move his first full concrete truck mixers. The DNA of the Odebrecht Group, however, dates back to the years before: 1856, date of arrival of Emil Odebrecht in Brazil. Following the flow of German immigration, the German engineer settled in the Valley of Itajaí, Santa Catarina. Emilio Odebrecht remained at the head of the Organization for ten years until Pedro Novis passing the direction, in 2001. The beginning of the new century was marked by the acquisition of control of COPENE, the central raw material of the Camaçari, Bahia, in a consortium with the Mariani Group. A large and competitive company in the Brazilian petrochemical industry began to be drawn. After corporate and operational integrations, Braskem emerged in 2002.  From the end of 2008, Marcelo Odebrecht assumed command of the Organization. Member of the third generation ahead of the family business, he leads a new growth cycle.
