Formaldehyde aqueous solution inhibited with methanol to avoid paraformaldehyde production. It has a strong and irritating odor and colorless and limpid aspect. It is used in the production of resins: phenolic, ureaformaldehyde and melaminics It has also applications in adhesives, fertilizers, trimetylolpropane, 1,4 butanodiol, neopentyl glycol, in the textile, leather, rubber and cement industries, as bactericidal, germicidal and disinfecting agents.
