Description

We offer freelance collaboration , assistance and consulting on all major items of the production process:


Raw materials, glass batch formula and glass chemistry:

Raw materials selection, quality of raw materials, new raw material introductions.
Glass batch formula, glass composition and glass chemistry.
Detailed glass batch (optimisation) calculations, improvement of the glass chemistry.
Development of software and programs for batch calculation, furnace follow-up and energy calculations 1.
Optimisation of the physical and chemical characteristics of the glass e.g. viscosity-temperature profiles, melting and fining characteristics, redox, colour characteristics.
Cost calculations and cost optimisation raw materials per ton molten glass.
Glass colour improvements e.g. using physical and chemical decolorisation (flint glass).
Glass colour change process optimisation e.g. faster changes with less production loss.
Formula for different types of glass colour e.g. UVAG, autumn leaf, antique, blue, ...
Development of new glass colours, improving colour stability
Best practice in batch house operation.
Quality specifications and quality control of raw material and cullet.
Optimised use of cullet and glass recycling, development of high cullet ratio batches (e.g. >90% cullet).



 


Melting process & furnace:

Furnace design and the actual situation: state of the furnace(s), refractory corrosion, furnace settings and energy efficiency performance.
Specific energy consumption, energy consumption reduction.
Energy balance calculations, check for abnormal energy losses, benchmark of the furnace performance, comparison with similar furnaces (using our furnace database and energy calculation programs).
Optimisation and/or follow-up of furnace operation and control strategies (according pull, batch & glass characteristics), combustion settings, temperature profile optimisation.
Decrease of furnace refractory wear and chemical attack risk, furnace lifetime improvements.
Melting process improvements, solving melting problems like e.g. crystallisations, devitrification, seeds and batch stones.
Oxy-fuel firing and related problems assistance.
