Copaíba Oil (Copaifera langsdorffii) or Copaíba resin oil is a resinous vegetable oil extracted through perforations of the trunk of the canopy, a tree species occurring in the Amazon and in several other regions of Brazil, especially in the Northeast region. Popularly known as copaíba, copaibeira and pau-de-óleo, it is a tree belonging to the family of fabaceae and the subfamily of the Leguminosae: Caesalpinioideaeu.
Use of Copaíba Oil
Copaiba oil has antibiotic, anti-inflammatory, antiseptic characteristics and helps in healing. So it is widely used in a homemade way to cure small skin lesions and throat and lung diseases. In addition to its use in cosmetics and herbal medicines, copaíba oil can be used as fuel for engines and for the manufacture of paints and varnishes.
