Cenospheres are hollow spheres and lightly weighted spheres with very comprehensive strengths used as a structural lightweight filler. Generally, cenospheres occur as a byproduct of coal combustion in thermal power plants. Cenospheres are generally formulated with silica and alumina. These are filled with either with air or with the inert gas. They are very easy to handle, have high insulation characteristics and due to their inert properties, they remain unaffected by solvents, water, acids, and alkalis. Owing to all these positive sides, cenospheres have been vastly employed in various industries.
