Mulato II Grass Seed is a vigorous-growing, warm season pasture or forage grass adapted to the tropical and subtropical regions around the world. Mulato II is especially attractive for beef and milk production operations.

When to Plant: Recommended planting time is spring and summer when night time temperatures are consistently 65+ degrees.
Grasses including Brachiaria are small seeds and not easy to handle. Therefore, when they are directly drilled the amount of seed used is high. The recommended seed rate is 8 kg/ha respective 3.2 kg/acre. The seeds are drilled in rows 50 cm apart and a spacing in the rows of 25 cm between the plants.
Mulato-II's particular advantage is its relatively high crude protein content due to greater leafiness and thinner stems than those of traditional Napier grass, resulting in higher nutritive quality.
In better quality soils (pH 6.3), Mulato II sown at the end of April produced 35 tons of dry matter per hectare in 7 months, with 11% crude protein, low fiber content and a high percentage of leaves (85%).
