Description
The ultrasonic flowmeter is used for control measurements or to quickly detect the flow in a pipeline, so it is a portable and easy-to-install measurement system. The ultrasound flowmeter works based on the transit time methodology. The principle of measuring the flowmeter is very simple. In a diagonal measurement in a tube less time is required than in a countercurrent measurement.
The more the flow rate increases, the more time is needed to measure if it is countercurrent, and the less time if it is in the direction of it. The difference between the transit time in or against the current depends directly on the velocity of the flow. The flowmeter uses this effect to determine the flow and flow velocity. Electroacoustic transducers receive and emit brief ultrasonic pulses through the medium flowing in the pipeline.
The transducers are placed in a longitudinal direction in a shiftable manner on both sides of the tube to be measured. Non-destructive sensors are placed on the tube and are fixed, for example, with a sealing tape. In a short time the screen indicates the speed of the flow. The ultrasonic flowmeter can be used in metal and plastic pipes.
