The ANEC (National Association of Grain Exporters) estimated at at least $ 4 billion losses that producers have this year with the chaotic logistics for the export of soybeans and corn. The organization says that the country will export 40 million tons of soybeans and 18 million tons of corn. The cost per ton to take the ports of Santos and Paranagua increased from U.S. $ 81 to U.S. $ 98 per ton, about $ 70 more than they pay competitors from Argentina and the U.S.. This cost is deducted from the price of soybeans, priced at U.S. $ 525 a ton, and corn-U.S. $ 246 a tonne. "The losses involved with the marketing of the crop has reached above the cost that we would have to deploy multiple waterway corridors in the country values" Sergio Mendes, President of ANEC. Brazil has plans to deploy at least two waterways for transport of harvest by the North, in the corridors of rivers Teles Pires-Tapajós and Araguaia-Tocantins.
