In 1997, during a doctorate and post-doctorate in Europe, Dr. Djalma Marques and his wife Dr. Fátima Fonseca studied the probiotics from the Caucasus region, their properties and applications in both food and skin care. They did intensive research with the bacteria colonies of the region and developed a methodology for isolating and stabilizing the Kefir colony. They were able to isolate and transform the probiotic complex with 62 probiotic strains into liquid or powder form.
They patented the process and have been adding this stable colony in all kinds of products, from cosmetics to supplements and beverages, among others.
Biologicus is the first Brazilian company to industrialize fermented products from a consortium of microorganisms - lactobacilli and yeasts, mainly - from probiotics from the Caucasus.
