Description

Betaine, also known as trimethylamine ethyllactone, betain, and trimethylammonium ethyl salt, is a quaternary ammonium derivative of glycine, and is a class of nitrogen-methyl compounds or trimethyl internal salts formed after the hydrogen on the amino group of amino acids is replaced by methyl groups.
Common ones are glycyl betaine, β-alanyl betaine, and prolyl betaine.
Prismatic crystals or leaf-like crystals are obtained from ethanol, which have a sweet taste and are easy to deliquescent. Melting point 293 °C, decomposition at 300 °C, soluble in water, methanol and ethanol, insoluble in ether, at the melting point can be isomerized into methyl dimethylaminoacetate, from the free acid HO-N(CH3)3-CH2COOH aqueous solution to obtain a hydrate crystal, it loses water at 100 °C to form betaine, stable in acid.
It reacts with concentrated potassium hydroxide aqueous solution to obtain trimethylamine.
Maillard reaction (browning reaction) with sugar.
It is found in plants such as beetroot and cottonseed, and is also found in animal substances such as spiny shark meat and crab juice.
It can be recovered from sugar beet mother liquor. It can also be formed by methylation of aminoacetic acid or by the reaction of chloroacetic acid with trimethylamine
。 Clinically, it is shared with N-amimidinoglycine for the treatment of myasthenia gravis, and it is also used as a reagent for the identification of gold in analytical chemistry.
This product is a betaine amphoteric surfactant, which is used as a leveling agent for vat dye dyeing.
In drought or salt stress, many plants accumulate betaine, which becomes the main organic solute of osmoregulation, and has a protective effect on proteins and cell membranes.
Apply;
Betaine is a quaternary ammonium alkaloid.
Anhydrous betaine is a new type of fine chemical, which can be widely used in food, medicine, daily chemical, printing and dyeing, chemical industry and other fields.
Anhydrous betaine is a highly effective, high-quality nutritional additive. Pharmaceutical-grade betaine is used in the pharmaceutical, cosmetic, food, fruit juice industries, as well as dental materials, and betaine can also be used in the fermentation industry.
Anhydrous betaine has the effects of brightening eyes, anti-fatty liver, protecting kidneys, treating cardiovascular diseases such as atherosclerosis, and is used in health food.
Anhydrous betaine is widely used in food and beverages in the food industry because of its moderate taste and colorlessness. Anhydrous betaine is used for weight loss, beauty food. Betaine is used as an additive in daily chemical products
