Brightener is a class of organic compounds that can improve the whiteness of fibers, fabrics and paper, also known as optical brighteners or fluorescent brighteners. Textiles often turn yellow due to color impurities, and in the past, chemical bleaching was mostly used to decolorize and add brighteners to the product.
According to the chemical structure, it can be divided into five categories:
(1) Styrene type, used in cotton fiber and some synthetic fibers, papermaking, soap making and other industries, blue fluorescence;
(2) Coumarin type, with coumarin ketone as the basic structure, used for cellulose, polyvinyl chloride plastic and other materials, with strong blue fluorescence;
(3) Pyrazoliline type, used for wool, polyamide, acrylic fiber and other fibers, green fluorescence;
(4) Benzoazheterosis, used for acrylic fibers and plastics such as polyvinyl chloride and polystyrene, which fluoresce red;
(5) Phthalimides, used for polyester, acrylic, nylon and other fibers, with blue fluorescence.

(1) Fluorescent brightener for detergent; (2) Optical brightener for textiles; (3) Fluorescent brightener for papermaking; (4) Fluorescent brighteners for plastics and synthetic materials; (5) Fluorescent brightener for other purposes.
