Geotechnical fabrics are permeable nonwoven fabrics used for separation, filtration, enhancement, protection or drainage. Geotextiles allow for the filtration or separation of particle layers in road and rail applications to protect film in landfills, for coastal defense applications and for landscaping to protect surfaces and structures where weeds and roots grow. Geotextiles can be used as fabrics and non-fabrics. As a lining protection to prevent physical damage, nonwovens are usually the answer.
